This section explains why people might feel worried. We described that feeling worried is kind of like the brain's smoke alarm.
A smoke alarm makes a loud noise when there is a fire, to let us know that we are in danger.

Like a smoke alarm makes noises, our body gives us signs that we are starting to feel worried. These signs could be changes in how your body feels, the way you behave or the way you are thinking.
Not everyone has the same signs, so it is important to pay attention to your body to learn what your warning signs are.

Everyone feels and behaves differently when they are worried. You might have noticed that you feel the same as some of our examples above, or you might feel very different. It can take a little time to work out what is happening to you.

It might help to ask someone who knows you, like a friend or a parent/carer, if they notice anything that changes about you when you feel worried.

You can use our outline below to think about different parts of you, and whether you notice anything happening to them when you start to worry. If you would like one to write or draw on, you can this out by clicking HERE
